The Green Hornet is easily my favorite (not homemade) green smoothie, and something I frequently go out of the way to get! Collectivo offers a few varieties of yogurt based smoothies but this is their only non-dairy variety. I learned of its wonder when I lived downtown and frequented the Collectivo location on the square, now I just have to find excuses to be on Monroe Street mid morning or mid afternoon to justify needing to stop for one. Refreshing and light, slightly sweet and slightly tart, you just feel brighter after drinking one. I also remember this smoothie as the first thing I craved the morning Jack was born, thanks to Ellie for delivering multiple Green Hornets to my hospital room. Friendship at its finest :)
Recently I’ve been playing around with different combinations of green + fruit, and I happened to stumble upon, by happenstance, something that tasted remarkably like my beloved Green Hornet! I played around with the ratios and landed on what I think is essentially the Green Hornet recipe.
1 frozen ripe banana
3 stalks of celery
1/2 English cucumber, peeled
handful frozen pineapple chunks
drizzle of honey
Jack isn’t as big of a fan as I am :)
